Fields Behind the Beach – From farm to plate, from sun to power

Albena is known for sun and sea. But just inland, another side of the resort tells the deeper story. Only a short distance away sits Eco-Agro, Albena’s own gardens, vineyards and cattle farm. This is where the holiday begins long before check-in: in the soil, in the harvest, and in the local work that keeps the place running.

Here, food is not only served, but it is also grown. Guests can taste produce picked the same morning, and the connection feels immediate: fresher plates, shorter transport, more local value. Albena also invites visitors to step closer, with simple experiences such as fruit and vegetable picking and learning how eco-agriculture works.

Behind the scenes, the resort runs on practical loops. Photovoltaic panels supply a large share of electricity. Food waste is transformed into biogas and organic fertiliser, feeding energy back into operations and nutrients back into the land. Free mineral-water drinking taps reduce plastic use, while thermal mineral springs add a well-being dimension that has attracted visitors for generations.

And travellers are key part of the story. A holiday here doesn’t end at the beach. It supports the fields, the kitchens and the quieter infrastructure that keeps Albena working. Each overnight contributes to the resort’s Green Fund, helping the next improvements take root.
