Discover Žemaitija around the family table

On the shore of Lake Žiedelis, in the quiet of Žemaitija National Park, a family-run homestead has been welcoming visitors for more than two decades. 

Prie Žiedelio was founded by Janina and her husband Edvardas in the old Beržoras forest district. Today, Janina and her children continue to develop the homestead, surrounded by four lakes and the forests and landscapes of western Lithuania. 

The experience goes beyond a place to stay. Guests can discover traditional Samogitian cuisine through educational programmes and tastings, learning about local dishes such as kastinys while hearing stories, songs and traditions shared by their hosts. These encounters give visitors a chance to experience cultural heritage not simply as something to observe, but as something to take part in. 

The approach also creates value for the local community. By choosing locally produced food and services and supporting a family-run rural business, visitors contribute to local livelihoods and help sustain traditional knowledge. Located within a protected natural area, the homestead also encourages slow, responsible experiences that bring guests closer to the surrounding landscape.
