Follow the trail into the Balkans

Some journeys start where the main road stops. A path begins, and a different pace takes over. TIME-TRAVEL makes these cross-border walks possible again. It links Kosovo and Montenegro through ten themed trails that guide travellers to rural landscapes, village life and local heritage. 

Each route has its own character. Some sections run through forest shade. Others open onto broad valleys and viewpoints. Along the way, travellers pass cultural landmarks and small local sites that are easy to miss without a trail to follow. The project keeps the experience light. Paths are cleared and well-marked. Simple panels explain what is being seen. Small rest points add comfort, without changing the feel of the place. 

This is also a story about local people. Communities help shape the routes and welcome visitors through guided tours, food, crafts, and small stays. A shared online platform helps travellers find these services across the border. Training creates new chances too, so more residents can take part in hosting visitors and building local income. 

Tourism is what keeps the model alive. Visitors make it possible: when travellers book a guide, eat locally, or stay overnight, their spending helps pay for trail care and supports local livelihoods. In the end, a walk becomes more than a walk. It helps rural places stay active and connected, on both sides of the border.
